As a leading international supplier of hydraulic and electrohydraulic components in the field of micro and high-pressure hydraulics, our activities and processes are tailored to our customers and their needs. By attaching great importance to quality and innovation, we are able to offer efficient and sustainable solutions. At our site in Liebefeld near Bern, Switzerland, we develop, produce and distribute our products worldwide. Thanks to the HYDAC sales and service network and a number of independent distribution partners, we are represented internationally, making us close to our customers and their applications.

History
- 1950:
Hans Bieri founds the company H. Bieri und Söhne in 1950 and concentrates on products from his previous field of work, overhead line construction. - From 1951: Employees are already being hired and further products for electricity generation are being developed: trash rack cleaners, desander systems, hydraulic sluice gate lifting mechanisms.
- 1966:
Parallel to the further development of components and systems for power plants, a new product line is introduced with various types of presses. From 1969, hydraulic tensioning solutions and portable concrete splitting equipment are added. - 1976: Standard hydraulics product range
The recession of the 1970s forces BIERI to tackle new markets and products. The standard hydraulics product range is introduced, some of which is still offered today in a modernised form. The hydraulic control for an operating table for the largest manufacturer of operating tables in the USA is developed and introduced. - 1985: Expansion
The hydraulic equipment for operating tables is so successful that space in Liebefeld becomes tight. A factory building in Aegerten near Biel is moved into as a second location. - 1991: New company structure
In this year, BIERI Hydraulik AG changes hands and is integrated into MK Holding SA. Further successful years follow. - 2000: Expansion of standard hydraulics product range
The existing range is completely modernised. The radial and axial piston pumps (BRK and AKP) are introduced as well as the BV-700 valve range with pressures up to 700 bar. - 2011: Part of the HYDAC Group
BIERI Hydraulik AG has been part of the HYDAC Group since 2011. Within the group of companies, BIERI is the production site for products with pressures of up to 1000 bar.
Business code
HYDAC Group
Being a globally active group of companies, we see it as a matter of course to act according to the same basic principles on the market all over the world with responsibility towards the environment and society. For this reason we are certified, with re-certifications performed at regular intervals.
The business code below lays down minimum requirements on this basis, which can be supplemented to suit national needs.
- Relevant existing laws and other national and international regulations form the natural fundamentals for our action.
- We take account of the relevant social, cultural and political boundary conditions.
- For us, human dignity rules out any kind of discrimination, force or harassment. It also means that workers should be free to join associations and to exercise this right within the framework of applicable legal provisions.
- The applicable regulations with regard to protection of minors, labour protection and health protection are an imperative and postulation for us to put these human rights into practice.
- Confidentiality is a central prerequisite for fair and partnership-based cooperation. This includes respect for the privacy of each individual, including their personal data.
- We stand by the principles of a free market economy and hence by open and fair competition. We neither engage in nor tolerate any form of corruption or other improper influence over others’ freedom to make decisions.
- We develop and produce safe and reliable quality products with a view to efficient and sustainable future viability.
- In compliance with national and international environmental standards, we avoid adverse impact on the environment, observe requirements regarding the origin of raw materials and use resources responsibly and efficiently to contribute to sustainable development.
- We give employees and other interested third parties confidential access to a process for reporting potential breaches of these principles.
- Independently of any legal obligations, we expect our business partners to comply on their part with the fundamental guidelines of these principles and to actively ensure that their own business partners also comply with these guidelines and respect them.
